Framing Day #5

The second half of our roof was delivered (sure is nice to have the factory just 30 minutes from our house) before lunch.  They were able to finish the roof today and put up the windows and doors.  Tommorow we get shingles put on...they are already sitting on our roof just waiting to be laid down.

My husband was able to walk through today and found that the floor by the front door squeaks.  Also, he found that the top of the stairs on the right side is 1/2 inch higher than the left, and squeaks too.  Wasn't noticeable until the window at the top of the stairs was put in.  So he will be calling our PM in the morning to have those items fixed.  Kudos to our knowledgable new neighbor who walked through with him (we have no construction experience)!

Framing Day #4

My husband walked the lot and house with the PM today to check the status.  They've placed a third beam in the middle of the house to offset the one with a crack(previous post).  It was initially two beams with the crack only being in one of them.  Now it is flanked by uncracked beams.  They were only able to roof half of the house because they only delivered half of the wood for it!  The warehouse made a mistake and never cut the other half.  So they got busy today with cutting it out and it will be delivered in the morning.  We should be roofed and shingled by Wednesday afternoon.

Framing Day #3

Looking good!  Now everyone in the neighborhood knows what house we are building...I'm sure
they've been trying to figure it out :)

Standing in the garage looking into the first floor with stairs

Standing in the kitchen looking at the pantry and garage behind

Standing in the kitchen looking at the washer/dryer/mud room with garage behind

Soon-to-be fireplace

He thought it was hilarious to be standing in the bathroom, first floor

Looking down the stairs from the second floor

This looking into rooms 1 and 2 on second floor with master bathroom in the back

Master bath from the master bedroom

I actually don't remember what way I was looking (I think it was master bedroom looking into
the second bathroom and fourth bedroom in the back)

Back view of our home...the morning room sure looks great.  I love the peaked roof.

Another view from the back.  You can see the fireplace cutout.

Framing Day #2

They made great progress today!  We walked around the first floor this evening to check the framing.  We only found one issue (in the last photo below)...a nice crack in a beam for the second floor.  We'll call the PM in the morning to have it replaced.

We met some of our neighbors tonight.  They were so nice!  We are very pleased.  And they told us that we have the best framing team working on our house, which made us even happier!

Framing Day 1

I stopped by over lunch to see the progress and the framers were out at the site organizing all of the lumber.  I stopped by again after work and they had laid the first floor and gotten some sections up.  It is over 100 with the heat index so they stopped working for the day.  Don't blame them!  We are also supposed to get some severe storms tonight with strong winds.  Why put up our sections just to have them possibly topple over?  I'm glad they stopped for the day.  The weather is supposed to be great for the rest of the week so I'm happy about that.

Lumber

Our lumber was delivered yesterday along with some other parts.  The most exciting thing to see was my garden tub!  They poured the concrete yesterday.  I stopped by to take pictures this morning before framing started.  I'm looking forward to watching how quickly it will all be put together!

Basement Foundation

They couldn't work over the weekend due to the rain.  But they sure have been busy since then.  I stopped by our lot this morning and took some pictures.  I can't wait to be hanging out in that basement in about 2 months!
